Woodmill pupil talks of solidarity among students a year on from major fire

A Woodmill High pupil has been telling Kingdom FM about the solidarity among students at the Dunfermline school, a year on from the devastating fire there.

The blaze destroyed around half of the school, with its 1,400 pupils having to be taught at education sites elsewhere.

Some students did return on site in January, but classes were disrupted in March, because of the coronavirus pandemic.

But now, S1 to S6 are back at the school and it's hoped young people from the Department for Additional Support will return soon.

Headteacher Sandy McIntosh has told us of his deep pride in pupils and staff over the last 12 months.

He has also paid tribute to parents for their support.

Work is ongoing to make the school's building complete.

Sixth year pupil Christy Henderson has been talking about coming back to Woodmill High since the start of the new school year and says property was lost at the building in last August's fire.

But she is now glad to have returned to the school:
