Every pupil in Fife will have access to WiFi at school by next summer.
The council is upgrading IT at primaries and secondaries across the Kingdom, making sure the latest software is available and introducing laptops to classrooms.
It is to ensure pupils here are not at any disadvantage when they leave school.
Councillor Bryan Poole, Spokesperson for Education, Children, Young People and Families, said: The Council highlighted information technology in schools as being a very important area for investment, even in these difficult financial times.
"This has been demonstrated over the last financial years by new investments made in all of our schools. The benefits include the installation of WiFi throughout schools and an increase of Netbook and Notebook devices.
"This has been supported by a training programme to make sure the new technology is used effectively by the schools."
