Fife Trading Standards is warning of an increase in fake designer products being sold online.
Trading Standards have given advice to traders who might be tempted to sell counterfeit merchandise this Christmas and consumers who might be duped into buying fake products.
Dawn Adamson, Lead Trading Standards Officer, said: "Many web addresses end in .co.uk or similar so the sites seem legitimate, but people should be aware that these URL's can be registered from anywhere in the world.
"There may be tell-tale signs, such as terms written in poor English, or the site asking you to pay through a payment merchant as opposed to accepting your credit or debit card directly.
"The website www.brand-i.org is also a great source of information on approved suppliers of a multitude of brand named firms".
