Val McDermid takes Angela Rippon on Kirkcaldy tour for BBC show

Kirkcaldy author Val McDermid took Angela Rippon on a tour of the town in last night's episode on BBC's The One Show.

She took the presenter and Strictly star to parts of the town that have influenced some of her novels and were important to her growing up.

It was to celebrate of her new book and latest in the Karen Pirie series called Past Lying which is released tomorrow (Thursday, October 12).

The second series of the TV show is to start filming next year.

The pair started off chatting about some of Val's work and her more famous novels.

They visited the house she grew up in and Kirkcaldy Library, Val's local and that she says was a "home from home".

Afterwards they went to East Wemyss and visited the famous caves, with Val revealing she would tell stories to her friends there and it features in the second series of the Karen Pirie TV series.
