True cost revealed following a series of Freedom of Information requests.
Nearly £5 million in unpaid court fines is being hidden from official statistics.
That's according to the Scottish Conservatives.
Figures state that the Scottish Court Service is more than £16 million in arrears from criminals who've failed to settle their fines.
However, after a series of Freedom of Information requests, it's emerged there's a further £4.8 million in outstanding fines which are not included in official data.
