Police say two men have been assaulted at their home in Kirkcaldy by two other men who entered their property.
It happened at 5:30am early this morning in the town's Allen Court.
The victims are ages 40 and 33.
It's understood a weapon was used, but those who were assaulted didn't end up with any serious injuries.
Officers are treating the incident as "isolated" and say the two men who committed the attack are under six foot in height.
Detective Inspector Chris Dow of CID in Kirkcaldy said: "The victims, aged 33 and 40 were within their home address when two men entered the house and assaulted them.
"It is understood a weapon was used but fortunately it did not result in the victims suffering any serious injuries.
"We are keen to trace the two men who are described as being under six foot tall.
"We are treating this as an isolated incident.
"The area would have been relatively quiet at the time and we are appealing to anyone saw anything suspicious to come forward.
"I would also appeal to anyone who may live nearby with CCTV, or who was driving in the area with dash cam footage to contact police.
"Anyone with information should contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting incident number 448 of 23 December 2020."
