The mother of a teenager killed in a car crash in Fife last week say his presence will "be sadly missed by everyone he knew."
16-year-old Brian Phimister, was pronounced dead at the scene after the BMW 3 series he was a passenger left the road and hit a tree.
The incident happened around 12.50am on Friday on the A955 between Dysart and Coaltown of Wemyss.
The 18-year-old driver of the car sustained serious injuries, which are not thought to be life threatening, and was taken to Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy.
In a statement issued through the police, his mother said: “Brian was a much loved son and brother and his presence will be sadly missed by everyone he knew.
"The family respectfully request to be left to grieve at this difficult time.”
Police in Fife are appealing for witnesses following the crash, and enquiries are continuing. Inspector Brenda Sinclair said: “This was a serious road traffic collision in which a 16-year-old lost his life and my sincere condolences go to Brian’s friends and family.
“Our officers are currently pursuing various lines of enquiry to establish the full circumstances surrounding this collision and I’d urge anyone who can help with our investigation to come forward."
