24 people have been caught speeding on a notorious Fife road in just 48 hours.
Police recently installed cameras on Aberdour Road in Dunfermline following concerns from local residents.
The offenders were caught breaking the 30 mile per hour limit.
Inspector John Lawson, Police Scotland said:
"As part of our response to concerns raised about speeding on the east side of Aberdour Road, we are working with the Fife Safety Camera Partnership. This is a residential area, it’s 30mph, and while most drivers travel within the limit we need to take action to encourage speeders to slow down, it's a high risk driving behaviour, often noted as a contributory factor in serious and fatal road accidents. Routine deployment of the mobile safety camera unit will
continue in a bid to influence driver behaviour and keep people safe."
Partnership Manager, Andy Jones added:
"Local people can be rest assured that concerns raised about speeding on Fife's roads are responded to. Initial deployments undertaken on Saturday 8th
and Monday 10th November 2014 detected a total of 24 drivers speeding.
"There are schools on each side of the road, and the road user community includes pedestrians and cyclists as well as vehicle users. We hope our deployments will encourage drivers to slow down and keep within the 30mph limit for this section of the road"
