Scotland's Deputy Chief Medical Officer says she hopes this year will be "much better" than last year tackling coronavirus.
Professor Nicola Steedman has been giving her thoughts ahead of the First Minister's first Covid-19 announcement of the New Year that is taking place today.
Nicola Sturgeon will address Holyrood virtually this afternoon to update the Scottish Parliament on the state of the pandemic.
People in Fife, as well as the rest of north of the border, have been advised in recent weeks to stay at home as much as possible amid the impact of the Omicron variant of the virus.
Talking to Kingdom FM on Hogmanay in a video above, Professor Steedman looked ahead to the next 12 months, saying that the aim is to get out of the repeated cycle of waves and added that the pandemic hasn't been easy for her, as well as for others.
