Councillors have backed plans for a new lifeboat station at Anstruther.
It isn't known when construction will start, but the decision means the village's all-weather lifeboat will be upgraded to a newer Shannon class vessel.
This will reduce response times by half, therefore making it quicker for the team at the facility to provide help.
The lifeboat station has been running for more than 160 years.
