New sites being sought for discount store hit by major fire in Leven

A discount store which was hit badly by a major fire in Leven on Tuesday, has confirmed to Kingdom FM new sites are being searched for.

Poundstretcher has asked property agents to find a potential new location.

The business was operating in the High Street until the blaze.

Sixteen appliances were dispatched by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service to tackle the flames.

But there were no casualties.

Jim Bow, Poundstretcher's Retail Director, said: "It is with great sadness that the Leven Poundstretcher store is now closed due to a fire that caused the building to be seriously destroyed.

"The incident was reported at 2:06 A.M to Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.

"Poundstretcher is greatly relieved that there has been no loss or injury to life.

"We would like to thank the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service on their quick response to keep damage to a minimum and not spread to other premises or businesses.

"We are actively looking for alternative locations to relocate our employees to nearby stores.
