Nearly 3,000 free breakfasts have been provided to Fife College students in the first month of this academic year.

They have been served through the college's Breakfast Club.

2,962 breakfasts have been dished up across the College’s five campuses in the first weeks of the 2022/23 academic year.

The Breakfast Club scheme is one of a range of supportive measures that the College is currently highlighting to support students during the cost-of-living crisis.

Other measures that the college are highlighting, include free bus travel, for people under 22-years-old, free gym sessions at the college's Kirkcaldy campus and access to free devices to support studies.

The college has also designated its libraries as "warm spaces" to offer somewhere warm for students to study, helping avoid having to use too much of their own electricity and gas.

It's available at all campuses, with the college's libraries are open all day, with some opening on some days into the evening as well.

Additional services being featured in the campaign include the support from college’s guidance team.

They are available to discuss any personal issues or financial concerns students may have.

Vicki Anton, Head of Student Experience at Fife College, said: "With the cost-of-living set to rise higher and higher, we are keen to highlight all the supportive measures available to students that can help reduce the impacts of rising costs.

"The Breakfast Club, which ensures all students have access to a nutritious meal to start their college day, is a great example of this.

"Other support, such as free bus travel, free gym sessions and our designated 'warm spaces' all offer great ways to help keep costs down this winter too.

"Whether it’s money worries or anything else that is causing concern, our Guidance team are always on hand to help students.

"Just come in and see us on campus or email us to make an appointment."

The Breakfast Club initiative from the college is one of only a handful in Scotland.

It allows Fife College students to enjoy free toast, cereal or porridge and a cup of tea or coffee every weekday.

The scheme is run in partnership with the college’s catering contractor Aramark.

Free hot rolls are also provided on a Friday.

Full details on all the services available to students to reduce the impacts of the cost-of-living crisis, including the Breakfast Club, can be found on the college's website.
