The body of a 72-year-old man, who was reported missing after boarding a train in Kirkcaldy, has been found.
Police issued an appeal for information last Friday in an attempt to find Robert Brown after he had visited his family in Fife.
He got on board a Cross Country train service in Kirkcaldy at around 10:15am on the 30th January which was scheduled to stop at Newcastle.
Mr Brown was expected to get off there and make his way to his home in North Shields near the city, but he never arrived.
His body was found in Tweedmouth near Berwick-upon-Tweed in Northumberland yesterday.
Officers in Fife said last week information suggested he might have got off the train at the latter of the two locations.
A statement from Police Scotland said: "The body of a man found in Tweedmouth on Sunday 2 February has been identified as Robert Brown, from North Shields, who was reported missing after getting on a train in Kirkcaldy, Fife, on Thursday 30 January.
"His family have been informed and our thoughts are with them.
"The matter is being managed by Northumbria Police."
