The mother of three-year-old Mikaeel Kular has pleaded guilty to culpable homicide.
The youngster was reported missing from his home in the capital in January.
Hundreds of volunteers joined police and other emergency services in the search for Mikaeel.
Two days after the three-year-old's disappearance, his body was found in a suitcase hidden in woodland behind a house in Kirkcaldy.
His mother, Rosdeep Adekoya was originally accused of murdering the youngster at the family home in Ferry Gait Crescent in Edinburgh.
But after the Crown amended the charge to the lesser offence of culpable homicide the 34-year old pled guilty to killing him at the High Court in Edinburgh today.
