A 41 year old man's in Victoria Hospital with serious injuries after an attempted murder in Glenrothes.
Police say the incident took place on South Street last Thursday (December 21) at about 6.50pm.
The man was one of two who were targeted. The other is also 41-years-old.
Detectives say they're looking to identify two men in connection with the incident.
The first is described as 5ft 10in tall and of slim build.
He was wearing a light jacket with the hood up, wearing dark tracksuit bottoms, a dark coloured snood up to his eyes and may have had a tammy hat on.
The second is also 5ft 10in tall, of slim build and in his 20s.
He spoke with a Glaswegian accent and was wearing a dark, possibly blue, jacket with the hood up, a dark coloured snood up to his eyes and dark tracksuit bottoms.
Police have issued an appeal for information and ask anyone who knows something to contact them.
Detective Sergeant Steph Drummond said: “Our enquiries into this incident are ongoing and I would urge anyone who may have information to get in touch.
“We would also be keen to speak to anyone who may have dashcam or private CCTV footage from the area to come forward. “Anyone who can help is asked to call 101, quoting reference 3449 of 21 December, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
