A man is expected to appear at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court later after a pro-union MP was allegedly hit by an egg.
Former Scottish Secretary Jim Murphy temporarily suspended his '100 towns, 100 days' tour following a visit to Fife last Thursday.
The MP had been touring the country with a 'soapbox' to highlight the benefits of the union.
Police have confirmed that a 45 year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with an alleged assault in Kirkcaldy.
