A 42-year-old man, described as a "respected and trusted colleague and friend", has died after an incident at a business in Lochgelly.
Emergency services were called to Wernick Hire in Cartmore Industrial Estate on Station Road at about 7.15am on Monday.
It was in response to reports the man was injured.
The man was taken to Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy but he died a short time later.
Jonathon Wernick, Chief Executive Officer for Wernick Group Ltd said: “Obviously our first thoughts are to our colleague’s family at this time following such tragic circumstances.
“We remain in contact with the family and will continue to support them in every way that we can.
“The company is continuing to work closely with the HSE and the police to determine how this tragic accident occurred and will all within our power to assist them as that investigation continues.
“We will also continue to support all of our employees at our Lochgelly depot during this time following the loss of a respected and trusted colleague and friend.”
The police investigation continues.
The Health and Safety Executive have been made aware.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers attended at Cartmore Industrial Estate in Lochgelly around 7.15am on Monday, 8 April, 2024 after reports that a 42-year-old man was injured.
“The man was taken to Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy where he died a short time later.
Enquiries are ongoing and the Health and Safety Executive have been made aware.”
A HSE spokesperson said: "We are aware of this incident and making enquiries alongside Police Scotland."
A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We received a call on Monday 8 April at 07:12 to attend an incident on Station Road, Lochgelly. Two ambulances were dispatched to the scene and one patient was transported to Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy.”
