A crowdfunding campaign for a community cinema in Kirkcaldy is coming closer to reality after meeting its £5,000 goal.
Kirkcaldy could once again boast its own picture house - with more than twenty years having passed since a cinema was last open in the town.
The trustees of the King's Live Lounge, situated on the town's promenade, have just exceeded their fundraising goal of £5,000.
Mandy Hunter, one of those trustees, says a cinema in their venue would serve the community.
Ms Hunter says trustees "want people to give our idea of a community cinema a chance.
"We need you to tell us what you want to see - there's no point us putting on films you've already seen or you could just watch at home.
'People want it soon'
"The crowdfunder meeting its goal tells us people want it and people want it soon."
"We could open it with that amount.
"We're still looking at seating - we can't have big comfy couches because we've got to move seats in and out to put on other events in the space.
"We're looking into all that - if anyone has ideas or donations get onto our website, send us an email and let us know what you want."
'Here for the community'
The Kings is known for its comedy and music nights, as well as its sell-out pantomime performances, which attracted thousands of audience members last year.
"People are getting to know we're here, this would be another great way for people to get to know the Kings.
"We want people to come and use this building, we're here for the community.
"Live music, theatre, art, we're trying to put it all in this one building in a local, friendly way."
