Kirkcaldy's Festival of Ideas event postponed due to coronavirus concerns

The annual Adam Smith Lecture was scheduled to take place at Adam Smith Theatre before Festival of Ideas was postponed

The Adam Smith Global Foundation says next weekend's Festival of Ideas is being postponed, because of concerns over coronavirus.

It was due to be held on 20-21 March, with UNICEF Executive Director Henrietta Fore expected to deliver the Adam Smith Lecture on the opening evening.

Actress Joanna Lumley was originally scheduled to take part in the event In Conversation with Arabella Weir on the second night.

ONFife Chief Executive Heather Stuart said: "It is obviously disappointing that such a high profile and much-anticipated event is being postponed but, with guests and audience coming from throughout the UK and overseas, the organisers must err on the side of caution.

"No other events or shows at ONFife venues have been impacted so far but our planning is being reviewed continually and we are following the latest guidelines from the Scottish Government and NHS Scotland."
