A team of Kirkcaldy supermarket workers is scaling Ben Nevis in an early-hours challenge to raise money for charity.
Calling themselves the 'Morrisons Mountaineers', Nicole Donnelly, Martin Terris, Andrew Fleming, Craig Holden, Christopher Milne and Natalie Knight will join dozens of other Morrisons colleagues from across Scotland when they tackle the UK’s highest peak to raise money for Morrisons’ national charity partnership with health and social care charity Sue Ryder.
The team from The Esplanade store will set off in the early hours in the hope of seeing a magical sunrise above Ben Nevis, which stands at 1,344 metres (4,408ft) above sea level. The ‘Ben Nevis at Sunrise’ challenge was organised following the success of a ‘Snowdon at Sunrise’ event for Morrisons colleagues last year, which raised over £12,000 towards the Morrisons Raise a Smile partnership with Sue Ryder.
Nicole Donnelly said: "It will be a challenge but we’re really looking forward to it - standing at the top of Ben Nevis and watching the sun rise will be an amazing experience.
"It’s also great to raise funds for our charity partner Sue Ryder. Morrisons Kirkcaldy has raised over £3,500 for Sue Ryder since our national partnership began in February 2014 and we’re proud to be adding a bit more onto the total."
