Investing in young and innovative staff is the key to business growth in Scotland.
That is the message as national business week kicks off today - with 35 events taking place in Fife.
According to a survey by the Clydesdale bank, less than 1 in 3 firms spent money on staff training last year. While two thirds believe the UK has the right creative skills for growth, only 42% set aside enough budget to finance innovation.
Deputy Fife Council leader Cllr Lesley Laird said: "This year is focused on the changing business environment.
"Events offer valuable insight into issues affecting all companies and sectors from workforce development, managing business finance and strategy and digital connectivity. Each year Fife Business Week has offered stimulating programmes of events and we have seen skills developed and collaborative relationships built.
"This year we hope to build on that and support new entrepreneurs and established businesses looking for a new stage of growth move into 2016 with renewed vigour."
