The Scottish Liberal Democrats reiterate their calls for home rule rather than independence ahead of vote.
With less than a month to go until the independence referendum, the Scottish Liberal Democrats are to re-iterate their call for home rule.
The party will take their message to Dundee later claiming it's a better alternative to independence as it would allow Holyrood to shape the domestic agenda, whilst sharing risks and rewards with the rest of the UK.
Fife MSP and leader Willie Rennie will join local Liberal Democrat councillor Fraser Macpherson on a tour of Dundee's West End and Broughty Ferry.
"As the City of Discovery, Dundee has benefited in spades from the best of both worlds Scotland enjoys as part of the UK. From the world-renowned games industry to world-leading life sciences research, Dundee is a natural home of home rule.
"Many of the people I speak to support Scotland remaining in the UK but feel like something is missing. With Scottish Liberal Democrat plans for home rule in a federal UK, we can have a stronger Scottish parliament which shapes our domestic agenda on issues like health and education whilst sharing risk and reward across the broad UK shoulders. This is a positive vision of ambition and change which stands in stark contrast with the nationalists uncertainty on currency, pensions or EU terms of membership. That is the case I am making with local Liberal Democrat councillor Fraser Macpherson."
Scottish Liberal Democrat councillor for Dundee's West End Fraser Macpherson added:
"As a proud Dundonian and Scot I know there is nowhere better than Dundee, but I also know that Dundee feels the benefits that come from being part of something bigger as part of the UK.
"Our scientists, doctors and researchers receive 15 percent of UK research funds - nearly double our population share. By working together across the UK we can bring the best out of Scotland, maximising the opportunities which come from having the best of both worlds.
"That's why I will be joining Willie Rennie in saying No Thanks to the risk and uncertainty of the nationalists independence plans."
Yes Scotland says only independence can give Scotland responsibility for the full powers needed to build a fairer, more successful country.
