Racing drivers in Scotland are giving up their time today today to help sick and wounded ex-service personnel at Knockhill.
The event, organised by Mission Motorsport, aims to help veterans find employment in the automotive or motorsport industry.
The charity has helped around 700 former soldiers so far. They use motorsport to engage and merge the activities of the disabled and those carrying mentally and physically debilitating injuries with able bodied servicemen and women.
Their Scotland Area representative, Findlay Leask, said:
"Despite launching originally in 2012 the charity has had little presence in Scotland - until now.
"We will be welcoming touring car legend John Cleland, Thomas Docherty MP, Cara Hilton MSP, teams, car clubs, industry, press and around 40 Wounded, Injured and Sick forces' personnel and their families."
Mission Motorsport forms part of the MoD's Recovery Career Services by sourcing vocational opportunities, work placements and training, where possible in the automotive sector but also across all industry sectors. The charity has support from Sir Stirling Moss, Lord Drayson and was engaged with HRH Prince Harry through the Invictus Games 2014.
