Teen parents in Fife will continue to receive help from charity workers thanks to a huge funding boost.
Fife Gingerbread has been given £492,126 by the Big Lottery Fund to fund their Fife Teen Parents project. It provides a dedicated worker to offer help with home visits, post and ante-natal care and help with issues like debt, counselling and relationships.
The project has expanded recently after its initial launch in Levenmouth. It has helped over 660 families across the Kingdom in the last 4 years
Rhona Cunningham, Strategic Manager, said they are "absolutely delighted" to be able to deliver their Teen Parent Project throughout Fife for the next four years.
She said: "This is a fantastic opportunity for us to provide a sustained, consistent support to teen parents, and also continue to ensure that at the core of our work we are dedicated to improving the lives and futures of children."
Maureen McGinn, Scotland Chair of the Big Lottery Fund, said the award will help to bring "real improvements" to the lives of young parents throughout Fife. Over the last five years, funding from our Investing in Communities Programme has helped hundreds of families throughout the region. And I am delighted that Fife Gingerbread can now continue this vital work and offer young people a range of much needed support and guidance.”
