Local residents were evacuated last night (October 23) following the fire in Francis Street.
Emergency crews were called out after flames took hold just after 7pm, with seven fire engines at the scene, and two height appliances in use.
The town's Main Street is still closed following the blaze and crews remain on scene.
People are being told to avoid the area.
The Lochgelly Centre was opened to residents needing shelter, with some people evacuated overnight, and people living nearby advised to keep windows and doors closed.
A spokesman for SFRS said: “We sent seven fire engines and two height resources.
“There were no reports of any casualties.”
Some residents were evacuated and a rest centre was set up.
Police Scotland wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter: “Emergency services are in attendance at a building fire on Francis Street, Lochgelly.
“Officers are assisting with a number of road closures and diversions are in place. Please avoid the area if possible.
“Some residents have been evacuated and a rest centre has been set up at the Lochgelly Centre on Bank Street for anyone affected.
“Local residents are urged to keep windows and doors closed due to smoke.”
It's understood no one has been injured.
Fife Council’s emergency resilience manager Shona Robertson confirmed the local authority was on the scene along with emergency services.
She added: “Thankfully everyone was safely evacuated from the 11 council owned and one privately owned flat affected.
“We opened an emergency rest centre managed by emergency centre volunteers at Lochgelly Town Hall to provide shelter and refreshments until alternative accommodation was organised.
“The building standards and public safety team has arranged for temporary fencing to make the area safe and a full assessment of the building will be carried out later today. There are also signed road diversions in the area.
“We will now be making sure those evacuated from their homes receive the support they need.”
