Fife Taxi Firm 'Named And Shamed' For Low Pay

The Kirkcaldy taxi firm have been named and shamed for not paying the minimum wage

A taxi firm in Fife is among 115 businesses named and shamed for not paying the minimum wage.

The list includes A E Taxis in Kirkcaldy, one of 12 Scottish firms named by the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills.

They owe 3 workers £4,757.59.

Also on the list are a bar in Glasgow and a hotel in Perth. The minimum wage is £6.70ph. A national living wage of £7.20ph comes into effect next April, rising to £9 by 2020.

Business Minister Nick Boles said: "Employers that fail to pay the minimum wage hurt the living standards of the lowest paid and their families.

"As a one nation government on the side of working people we are determined that everyone who is entitled to the National Minimum Wage receives it.

"Next April we will introduce a new National Living Wage which will mean a £900-a-year pay rise for someone working full time on the minimum wage and we will enforce this equally robustly."
