Fife Police Target Bogus Cold Callers

Cold callers often target the elderly and vulnerable

Bogus cold callers are being targeted in an operation involving Fife trading standards and the police.

They are warning people not to hand over cash to anyone on their doorstep.

Bogus callers usually target the vulnerable and often cold-call consumers offering to carry out repairs which turn out to be poor quality, sometimes unnecessary and charged at extortionate prices.  Extreme cases can even involve victims being threatened or driven to the bank to withdraw money.

Anyone who wishes to report suspicious doorstep callers, or are concerned about elderly relatives or neighbours call Fife Trading Standards on 01592 583141 or Police Scotland on 101.  In an emergency dial 999.
