Police in Fife are continuing with their efforts to tackle youth disorder in the High Street and Shorehead areas of Leven over the weekends.
Local officers will increase the number of officers in the area to engage with the public, offer public reassurance and identify those responsible for criminal behaviour, including antisocial behaviour.
Recent enquiries have established that young people aged between 12 and 17 continue to obtain alcohol, which plays a contributory factor in the offences being reported to police. To address this matter, police will continue to liaise with the licensed premises in Leven and are urging parents and guardians to assist in preventing children gain access to alcohol. Community Inspector Tom Brown said “I will continue to utilise both plain clothes and high visibility foot patrols to identify those youths engaging in anti-social behaviour and forming part of large unruly group’s intent on reducing the quality of life of our Community. “While youths will continue to be reported for crime including vandalism and drinking in public, those engaged in unruly course of conduct will be taken into custody”. "Many parents may be unaware of their children’s behaviour and actions while outside the home but by working together we can help deter criminal activity in Leven and make our communities safer. "I would urge those affected by crime or anti-social behaviour to continue to report all such matters either via 101 or confidentially via Crimestoppers Tel. 0800 555 111." |
