Dr Syme received a Fellowship from the Charted Society of Physiotherapists.
A Fife physio has been awarded a fellowship - one of the most prestigious accolades in the profession.
Dr Grant Syme is being recognised for his work with the Advanced Practice Physiotherapy Network.
It provides an infrastructure for Allied Health Professionals to treat patients in place of medics.
Currently based in Kirkcaldy, Mr Syme has spent the last seven years with NHS Fife, originally working out of Randolph Wemyss Hospital in Buckhaven.
He said:
"The Advanced Practice work provides an infrastructure for Allied Health Professionals to step in and treat patients in place of medics. Not only does this utilise the unique skill-set of a physiotherapist for the benefit of the patient, it also frees up time and resources from busy medics.
Being awarded a Fellowship is a great honour and I share this with the musculoskeletal team, without whom I wouldn’t be receiving this recognition. There is a lot of great work going on in Fife and this Fellowship symbolises the progress the team has made towards integrating musculoskeletal physiotherapy services in Fife."
NHS Fife Chief Executive, Paul Hawkins, said:
"I would like to congratulate Dr Syme on his Fellowship, an award of which he should be rightly proud. His recognition is a further reminder of the impressive talent we have working within our health board and his success gives us another opportunity to highlight this."
