Fifers and shop owners are being told to stay alert for fake 50 pound bank notes.
Police say they've received multiple reports of counterfeit notes being used in large and small retailers as well as online over the last week.
The areas involved include Dunfermline, Dalgety Bay and Lochgelly.
Anyone with information or knows of anything suspicious is asked to call 101.
