E.Coli Cases Increase

NHS Fife says five confirmed and seven suspected cases of 0157 are being investigated.

Another suspected case of E.coli 0157 has been identified in an outbreak linked to a restaurant in Dunfermline.

NHS Fife says it's now dealing with five confirmed cases and seven suspected cases.

All the patients are recovering at home.

They all have links to Khushi's Indian Restaurant in Dunfermline.

The health board says the restaurant is co-operating fully with Fife Council Environmental Health and has re-opened following deep-cleaning and other measures which were required to be put in place.

Following the latest meeting of NHS Fife's Incident Management Team this morning, Dr Margaret Hannah, Consultant in Public Health Medicine, said:

"Khushi's continues to work closely with both ourselves and our partners in public health and we are grateful for their co-operation.

“I would re-iterate that the E.Coli O157 infection can be very serious and I would advise anyone who has experienced symptoms such as diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, bloody stools, stomach pain and fever to contact their GP or telephone NHS24 on 111, particularly if they ate from Khushi’s in early May.”
