Disruption as roadworks begin on road near Kirkcaldy High Street

Part of a road near Kirkcaldy High Street is closed from today (August 26) for resurfacing work.

Nether Street is being resurfaced in two sections until September 20.

The first, from Pathhead roundabout at the bottom of St Clair Street to Pathhead car park, runs until next Friday (September 6).

The affected section of Nether Street and its junction with Flesh Wynd will be closed.

The second phase will start next Saturday (September 7) and run from the car park onto Carrs Flour Mill.

Temporary traffic lights will be in place with Nether Street and its junction at Mid Road closed.

A diversion will run through Mid Street or drivers can use Millie Street/Nairn Street and Victoria Road.

Local businesses are not affected and Path House Medical Practice is open as normal.

Bus services are also unaffected but may have slightly different times.

Access to the pedestrian crossing on Nether Street will be removed. Pedestrians can use the alternative route via the nearby underpass.

Alistair Donald, Fife Council's roads services manager, said: “These works will help to further improve the condition of our road network.

“The works have been planned to minimise impacts on the travelling public and an alternative route will be signed to help drivers avoid the area.

“Road users are encouraged to plan ahead and consider the alternate route using Millie Street, Nairns Street, Victoria Road and Dunnikier Road.”
