Crunch Radiation Talks

Residents and politicians prepare to push for work to begin swiftly to remove radioactive particles from Dalgety Bay beach.

The future of Dalgety Bay beach could become clearer by this evening.

A crunch meeting is being held in the town to apply pressure on the Ministry of Defence to begin work on a £10 million radiation clean up programme.

There are concerns that work could be delayed by up to a year, something the UK Government has denied.

Kirkcaldy and Cowdenbeath MP Gordon Brown said:

"I welcome and will monitor the reassurance from the MoD that there will be no delay in starting the clean-up of radiation particles. The extremely patient residents of Dalgety Bay will wish action as soon as possible."
