Businesses in West Fife can expect to see a significant increase in foreign visitors during August thanks to the arrival of several cruise liners throughout the month.
Cruise ships will be in visiting the port at Rosyth on a regular basis throughout August, with a presence almost every day next week.
Passengers from all around Europe will arrive on MV Astor, Albatross and the Ocean Princess which will bring 800 US and British passengers.
Up to 1000 passengers will arrive on the German based Artania on Saturday - a ship that was originally named by Diana, Princess of Wales.
Peter Wilson, project manager for CruiseForth, which provides local welcome volunteers for all cruise ships arriving at Rosyth, said:
"We are in for a very busy month, with cruise ships bringing up to 1000 passengers to the port on each visit.
In the last three years we have seen over 3000 passengers take advantage of the Council funded courtesy bus to Dunfermline.
It is increasingly becoming known as a 'must see' opportunity for cruise passengers.
We have been working with local businesses to ensure that Rosyth and Dunfermline can give the warmest welcome to these visitors."
Cllr Lesley Laird , Deputy Leader of Fife Council & Spokesperson Economy & Planning said
"The increasing number of cruise ships visiting Rosyth is another example of the growth of tourism in Fife.
This project is a good example of partnership and team work in action in Fife.
The work of the local volunteer welcome team in promoting local opportunities to visitors, and the funding provided by Fife Council for the Courtesy Bus to Dunfermline can only reinforce our commitment to increasing visitor numbers and investing in the tourism economy."
