Fife spent 155 thousand pounds in 2014 repairing vandalism to schools.
That's the second highest in Scotland, although Glasgow City Council never released its figures.
The Kingdom had the second largest declared bill, below Dundee, on £157,000 and just ahead of Aberdeen - which forked out £151,000.
With the council facing massive cuts over the next three years, the cost is the equivalent of between five and seven teachers' salaries.
Local authority service manager Louise Playford said: “We take the issue of vandalism in our schools very seriously as it can cause real disruption in our school communities.
“Over the past few years we have improved security measures at a number of our schools with more CCTV cameras being installed and other systems being improved.
"Whilst we recognise that these costs are still significant, they have been reducing over recent years and we will continue to work with local police to try and prevent incidents where possible.”
