No classes will be held at St Andrews for the rest of the semester in an attempt to stop the spread of coronavirus.
Students were warned on Friday to prepare for a possible shift to remote learning.
The face-to-face teaching ban will come into effect on the 30th of March when students were due to return to classes.
It comes after a student was diagnosed with Covid-19 on Friday, having recently returned from Switzerland.
University bosses said they will in contact with students this week to discuss arrangements.
