It's feared drug companies will reject a call for a 5 pence a day medicine to be used to treat breast cancer.
Bisphosphonates was originally used to treat osteoporosis but scientists have found it can stop the spread of cancer into bones.
Approximately 640 women are diagnosed with breast cancer in Fife every year.
Breast Cancer Now says thousands of lives could be saved if the drug is approved for use on cancer patients. But the charity fears drug companies will reject the move because Bisphosphonates are not licenced for cancer use, nor would make them any profits.
A bill has been lodged with the UK government urging MPs to approve the drug's use.
