Boy, 14, charged over garages fire in Glenrothes

A 14-year-old boy has been charged after a fire destroyed a row of 13 garages in Glenrothes.

Firefighters were called to Hill View, just off Falcon Drive, on Monday night just after 9pm.

Police were treating the blaze, which also wrecked some cars, as deliberate.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 9.30pm on Monday, officers were called to a fire at a premises on Hill View, Glenrothes.

“The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service extinguished the fire and no one was injured.

“A 14-year-old boy has been charged in connection and a report will be sent to the relevant authority.”

The fire was one of three in the town on Monday night.

A caravan was set alight on Piper Drive and there was another blaze on Woodmill Road near Handi Indian restaurant.

Police believe they aren't linked.
