It's a matter of 'public interest' to find out what happened to Sheku Bayoh, that's according to Kirkcaldy MP Roger Mullin
He's assisting the Bayoh family arrange a meeting with Chief Constable, Sir Stephen House.
Family members want to know what caused the death of the 31-year-old on 3rd May 2015.
Mr Bayoh was arrested in the Hayfield Road area, but passed away in police custody.
His relatives say they've been given several different accounts of what happened and they hope a meeting with Mr House will lead to answers.
Roger Mullin MP met with the family on Sunday and said: “I am pleased to confirm that I have agreed with the family to write this week to Sir Stephen House, Chief Constable of Police Scotland, seeking a meeting regarding the way in which Police Scotland have dealt with the family since the tragic events of 3 May 2015.”
“It is a matter of public interest to find out exactly what happened and what the circumstances of the death were. I will therefore continue to call for the release of the Police Investigations and Review Commissioner report, to allow the findings to be reviewed by the family’s legal representatives and others.”
An investigation by PIRC is continuing.
