CCTV use in Kennoway has been extended following an increase in persistent crime and anti-social behaviour.
It follows a number of complaints from local residents and a serious assault in March.
Police say the Domehawk camera at Jordan Lane will supplement exisiting open space CCTV and provide extra support to officers.
The camera can capture CCTV evidence that can be presented in court should it be required.
Inspector Tom Brown said: “Domehawk CCTV Cameras can be used to good effect in areas suffering from persistent crime and anti-social behaviour.
“However it can only be a temporary measure. The siting of a camera at Jordan Lane will complement our conventional policing efforts to address the problems in the area.
"It will also act as a deterrent in the area and assist us trace persons who are purchasing alcohol on behalf of youths.
“Officers will continue to patrol the area and will rigorously enforce Curfew Bail conditions imposed on some of the youth element who were recently reported for persistent offending.
“I am hopeful that our ongoing efforts will yield positive results for the Kennoway community and allay some fears that were expressed at the recent public meeting.
“In addition, Campaign Against Violence Officers will be patrolling the Kennoway and Leven areas over the weekend.”
