The Public and Commercial Services Union is calling for John Swinney to reject a 'decade of pay misery'
Members reacted angrily to a UK government announcement yesterday that public sector workers pay will be capped by 1% for a further four years.
The PCS wants the Finance Secretary to step in and reject the terms, and instead work with trade unions to work towards a Fair Pay Scotland.
Whilst the PCS national dispute over UK government's pay, pensions and jobs continues, the union in Scotland is collating pay testimonies from members which will be presented at public hearings to local politicians in advance of the Scottish budget.
Lynn Henderson, PCS Scottish Secretary said: "It is clear from this unbalanced budget that the Tories have no intent in allowing public sector staff to be part of the recovery. The SNP claim to reject austerity, so now is the time for Mr Swinney to throw the tartan cover off the Tory pay policy, and work with trade unions in longer term planning to lift public sector workers and the Scottish economy out of this Tory pay misery."
