The Peat Inn features in a new Sunday Times 100 Top Restaurants list.
Scotland is home to eight of Britain's best restaurants according to The Sunday Times 100 Top Restaurants, to be published this weekend. The list is compiled by The Sunday Times in association with Harden's. It is now in its fifth year, and is based on 70,000 reviews from more than 6,000 consumers.
The number of restaurants in Scotland is two up from six last year, of which Martin Wishart runs two: Restaurant Martin Wishart in Edinburgh and Martin Wishart, Cameron House, Loch Lomond, where the head chef Graeme Cheevers is one of the youngest on the entire list, at just 27 years old.
Three more of the restaurants are located in Edinburgh, ensuring it retains its place as the city with the most restaurants in the top 100 outside of London – they are 21212, The Castle Terrace and The Kitchin. Andrew Fairlie in Gleneagles, which ranked second in last year's list, The Peat Inn in Fife, and re-entry The Three Chimneys complete the list.
Editor of The Sunday Times 100 Top Restaurants, Karen Robinson, said: "The Sunday Times 100 Top Restaurants is the definitive guide to the best places to eat in Britain. We carefully compile and analyse the reviews of thousands of diners to produce our top 100, so the chefs and restaurants that feature have truly earned their place. It is very exciting to see the evolution of the list since The Sunday Times first published it in 2010, this year has seen a marked increase in the number of restaurants outside London, a sign that we are becoming an increasingly sophisticated culinary nation."
The full top 100, including rankings and overall score will be revealed in The Sunday Times 100 Top Restaurants on October 19. The 100 Top Restaurants exemplifies The Sunday Times' rich heritage and commitment to investing in its journalism to continue offering readers of its papers world-class, unique and unrivalled content.
