Babcock at Rosyth want 250 new recruits for its Production Support Operative (PSO) programme.

The programme mainly focuses on attracting candidates who are not currently in education, employment, or training, with applications being encouraged through its website.

Once fully trained, successful candidates will have the skills and experience required to support manufacturing, assembly, outfitting and commissioning activities across the site.

In practical terms, PSOs will do tasks to support production, including material handling, forklift truck driving, kit inspection and cable pulling.

The role is diverse in nature, with clear progression routes, which might include becoming a fully qualified trades person in the future.

Babcock is working with an employability project developed by Kingdom Works and Fife Council, to provide pre-employment guidance and support.

It will include advice on completing online application forms and the opportunity to join a unique pre-employment training programme.

Sean Donaldson, Managing Director, Rosyth, Babcock said: "We are delighted to be recruiting a further 250 PSOs and are keen to attract applicants from our local communities and the wider area.

"Working with Kingdom Works, Fife Council and Fife College the PSO programme has enabled us to connect with a new group of potential employees, providing them with a structured route into full-time employment.

"New members of the workforce will support activities across our programmes, and we look forward to welcoming the new recruits to Babcock."

Laura Anderson, became a PSO in April this year and said: "I love what I’m doing and I’m learning something new every day.

"I’m part of a great team with all the support I need and its incredible to be involved in some of the world class engineering programmes that we have on site – I’d encourage anyone looking to get into employment to consider applying."
