One in four people stopped and searched in Kirkcaldy were in possession of alcohol, drugs or weapons.
That's according to Police Scotland at the end of Operation Tusker - a crackdown on violent crime and anti-social behaviour.
It comes as the Scottish Police Authority said it could find no causal link between a reduction in violence and the amount of stop and searches.
Alan Seath, the Local Community Inspector for the area, said it was "a well-planned and well-researched" operation based on information from the public.
"As a result, officers were deployed predominantly to areas such as Templehall, Linktown and Gallatown, where the use of stop and search powers were used to excellent effect to remove significant amounts of illegal drugs and offensive weapons from our streets.
"Operation Tusker has shown that stopping the right people at the right time in the right place will go a long way to keeping people safe in our communities."
